Tools of the Trade: Researching Your Ancestor in Trade Publications by Nancy Walcyzk
Knowing our ancestors’ occupation can help separate people with the same name, and help us learn more about our ancestors themselves. Trade publications are a valuable tool in our research, providing insight into the occupations, and (if we’re lucky), perhaps even more about our specific ancestor.
Nancy Walczyk is currently the editor for the TNGS quarterly Ansearchin’ News. Prior to that she was the TNGS Director of Research for seven years. Nancy is a frequent speaker for the Society. You can find her presentations on our website. Past topics have included Tennessee Research, Creating a Locality Guide, City Directories, Research Logs, and “Excelling” in Genealogy. Nancy enjoys helping people with their genealogy and has been researching her own family history for over 25 years. But sadly, she has no Tennessee ancestors.
Access will be through GoToWebinar. Instructions and Connectivity Link will be forwarded via email to all registrants upon registration, six days prior and again 1 hour prior to the event. Making the connection is quick and easy only requiring a computer and Internet connectivity from wherever you chose to watch the event. Your questions help drive the meetings, and we will be there to help each other.
