Tennessee Genealogical Society

Organized in 1947, the Tennessee Genealogical Society (TNGS) received its charter from the State of Tennessee in 1952 and has been continuously publishing since 1954. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt organization, completely staffed by volunteers. The society is presently located near Memphis in the historic area of Old Germantown with offices and lecture rooms adjacent to the Germantown Regional History and Genealogy Center (GRHGC).

Our Mission

To create and maintain an organization and society for the study and investigation of genealogical history and genealogical records.

To receive and collect genealogical and historical records and preserve such records in libraries and archives.
